GameCity Concert, Nottingham
28 October 2010, Nottingham: BAFTA-winning composer James Hannigan brought his video game music to life in a special concert and conversation with host John Broomhall at St. Mary’s Church as part of the GameCity 5 festival.
The event, held in the 14th-century parish on Thursday 28th October at 7.30 pm, presented a retrospective of Hannigan’s work with performances by The Pinewood Singers under the direction of Allan Wilson. Highlights included the world premiere of the new theme for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One, exclusive choral and instrumental arrangements of Evil Genius, selections from Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 and Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, and music from The Lord of the Rings video games.
The concert formed part of the UK’s leading independent videogame festival, bringing together music, gaming and culture in an atmospheric setting that emphasised the artistic breadth of contemporary game scores.
