Education & Outreach
Education and mentoring have become an increasingly rewarding part of James’s work in recent years. Alongside his projects, he has visited universities, schools and industry events to speak with students and creatives about the realities of composing for media in the modern era – exploring not only the creative process, but the significance of collaboration, identity and resilience.
His guest talks and discussions have included sessions at the Royal College of Music, School of Sound, Ludomusicology, Musicworks and Develop:Brighton, as well as participation in several BAFTA initiatives. As a founder of Screen Art Connect events throughout the 2010s, he helped create spaces where emerging composers could engage directly with working professionals and better understand the evolving role of music in contemporary media.
